ATI Rage Fury   (Last tested on Autodesk Inventor 4)

• Chipset: ATI Rage 128 GL
• Video memory: 32 MB
• Tested at True Color and 65,536 Colors

-          Many anomalies exist. Lines, especially fat lines, are spuriously dashed. Patterned lines restart at every vertex.

-          You must select 65,536 colors or True Color on the Settings tab of the Display Properties dialog box in order to get hardware acceleration. If you select 256 colors or 16,777,216 colors, you won't get any hardware acceleration. The graphics will be very slow.

-          Autodesk Inventor 3 Comment – Using Windows NT 4.0, and the driver version given within the certification page, only three (3) windows can be opened before performance drops significantly. You may also see problems when slicing a part or assembly, such as strips of grey painted across the graphics window. Using Windows 98 and the driver given, texture mapping will not be displayed correctly and Inventor will crash when you open three or more windows and attempt to close them.

ATI Rage Magnum (PCI)    (Last tested on Autodesk Inventor 4)

-          Card can only open 7 windows using hardware acceleration, using 1280 x 1024 x 16-bit screen resolution.

-          Highlighted edge-lines appear dashed, instead of solid.

ATI Radeon

• Video memory: 64 MB
• Tested at True Color

• Autodesk Inventor 5 Comments:

-          Windows 2000 – Markers may not be displayed correctly, and ‘Min OLE Texture Ratio’ must be set to ‘2’ in order for objects to appear correctly.

• Autodesk Inventor 4 Comments:

-          Windows 2000 – Markers are not displayed properly. Dimensions on a sketch are illegible, and you may see problems with slicing parts and assemblies.

-          Performance improved considerably on the dual processor system on which it was tested. Other graphics cards did not show as large of a gain.

• Autodesk Inventor 3 Comments:

-          Windows NT 4.0 – Using the driver version given in the certification page, Inventor may crash when you open ten or more windows and attempt to close them. Dimensions in a sketch are illegible. You may see problems slicing parts and assemblies.

-          Windows 2000 – Using the driver version given in the certification page, dimensions in a sketch are illegible. You may see problems when slicing parts and assemblies, such as strips of grey painted across the graphics window.

Fire GL1

• Chipset: IBM 256-bit Graphics Rasterizer
• Driver supports full CAD functionality
• Video memory: 32 MB
• Tested at True Color
• Driver versions:

• Comments:

-        Autodesk Inventor 3 Comments – Windows 2000 – Using the driver version given in the certification page, users may see problems slicing parts and assemblies, such as strips of grey painted across the graphics window. The above drivers should fix this.

-        Be sure to use the Default setting in the Display Properties dialog box.  Autodesk Inventor will not work correctly if you select the Autodesk Inventor setting on the AppSet tab.

Fire GL2

• Chipset: IBM Graphics Rasterizer
• Driver supports full CAD functionality
• Video memory: 64 MB
• Tested at True Color
• Driver versions:

• Comments:

-        Fire GL 3 & 4 cards will use the same settings as the Fire GL 2. The above drivers should work for Fire GL 3 & 4 as well.

-        Card cannot display “MIP-mapped” textures, which would improve the appearance of text within drawings. This does not affect the quality of sketch annotation.

-        Be sure to use the Default setting in the Display Properties dialog box.  Autodesk Inventor will not work correctly if you select the Autodesk Inventor setting on the AppSet tab.
